Seaford pledges to join the Great British Spring Clean Campaign on 25th March to 10th April 2022
Seaford Pledges to support the Great British Spring Clean 2022

Keep Britain Tidy, are running their Great British Spring Clean campaign which takes place between 25 March – 10 April. Why not join in #BigBagChallenge and pledge to pick up as much litter as you can during the campaign.  You can pledge to take part as an individual, a group, or a school, full details can be found at www.keepbritaintidy.org

Seaford Town Council is supporting the campaign by working with the Environment First team at Lewes District Council who are lending us litter picking equipment for people of Seaford to use over the campaign period. Litter picking sets will be available ( from 10 am on weekdays throughout the campaign) on a first-come-first-served basis from the council office in Church Street, all we ask is equipment is returned by 4 pm the same day. To pre-book equipment please email admin@seafordtowncouncil.gov.uk or pop in on the day to see what's available.

Adam Chugg, Town Clerk for Seaford says ‘STC is really excited to be part of the GBSC in 2022. Litter picking is fantastic for mental health, physical health, the environment and of course, for our local wildlife. It's such a great opportunity for the people of our town to come together and make our town litter free and we are playing our part to help make this happen’.

The great thing about the campaign is you can join in from anywhere, if you can only manage to litter pick your garden or local street, it all counts! If you want to get more involved, local parks such as the Salts recreational ground or the Crouch are ideal locations. We would like as many people to get involved as possible, but volunteer safety is paramount. Litter picking of areas beside roads should NOT be carried out under any circumstances due to the extreme danger that volunteers may find themselves in due to the risk of being struck by moving vehicles. To find more information on how to keep yourself safe whilst litter picking, please visit Cleanup.org.uk

We would love to share your stories on our Facebook page using the hashtags #BigBagChallenge and #GBSpringClean!

Beyond The Great British Spring Clean...

Seaford Town Council hopes this year's Great British Spring Clean will inspire residents long after the campaign has ended to help keep Seaford litter-free. Unfortunately, littering is an ongoing issue with 48% of people admitting to dropping litter. Therefore, we have signposted some useful information about littering, fouling and fly-tipping below:
