Seaford Town Council is excited to be working with local event organisers, with preparations well underway to mark the Queens Platinum Jubilee in Seaford this coming June.
Along with National celebrations to mark the Jubilee, Seaford Town Council will be working with residents, community groups and local businesses to host a number of events to coincide with the extended Bank Holiday Weekend (2nd – 5th June 2022).

The four-day event will be a time for the whole of Seaford to come together and celebrate the Queen's historic 70-year reign.
The event kicks off on the Thursday afternoon with the Town Crier undertaking the ‘Proclamation’, followed in the evening by the long-standing Jubilee tradition, the lighting of the beacon by Seaford Bonfire Society. An event that will take place simultaneously throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories, as well as the capital cities of the Commonwealth countries. Members of the public are encouraged to come together and watch this historic moment.

On the Saturday, residents can look forward to ‘The Beacon Expedition’ from SCIP (Sussex Contemporary Illustrators & Printers) supported by Cycling without Age, to offer those with physical disabilities a cycle tour of the exhibition.

The Platinum Jubilee weekend finishes with 'The Big Jubilee Lunch' on Sunday 5th June. A Big Jubilee Lunch can be big or small - street party or picnic, tea and cake or a garden barbeque. People are encouraged to share friendship, food and fun with neighbours as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Residents wishing to hold a Platinum Jubilee Street party at any time over the long weekend will be required to submit a road closure application here, with evidence of having consulted neighbours from the affected road with support from at least 60% offering support. The closing date for applications is Thursday 31st March 2022.

Throughout 2022 Seaford Town Council will be supporting the Queen’s Green Canopy, a unique tree-planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee inviting people to ‘Plant a Tree for the Jubilee’. Seaford Town Council will be working closely with ‘Trees for Seaford’ with planting due to commence again in the Autumn. From individuals to groups and organisations, Seaford Town Council encourages anyone to contact Trees for Seaford for planting advice.

Whist only some events are currently confirmed, Seaford Town Council are confident that many more
arrangements will be in place by June and encourage Schools, businesses, local event organisers and the community to get in touch with any events they have planned or how they can get involved at

It’s going to be an exciting start to the summer for residents and Seaford Town Council are delighted to be part of such a monumental occasion. Please visit the website in due course for the dedicated Seaford Platinum Jubilee celebrations page.
