The Town Council has continued to regularly monitor the situation regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) both locally and nationally. Following the announcement made by the national Government in July 2021 and the roadmap to exit from lockdown, measures changed significantly in accordance with the guidelines and also the perceived local ‘mood’. The following are relevant updates on any COVID-19 measures that remain in place:

The View at Seaford Head

The further easing and removal of COVID-19 restrictions came as welcome news to The View, which was able to welcome back functions in addition to its daytime food and drink custom and golfers.

The View continues to operate some of the service changes adopted since re-opening, including indoor table service and a spacious layout within the indoor restaurant area.

The View is actively encouraging the wearing of face coverings when indoors and staff are encouraged to wear one, particularly when inside is busy. e NHS Track & Trace code will remain active and customers are asked to sign in upon arrival.

If you have any questions or would like to make a booking, please call 01323 890139 (option 3) or email to hello@the-view.co.uk . A member of staff will respond to your enquiry as soon as possible. Any bookings are subject to restrictions that may be in place and the Government has been clear that it may reintroduce restrictions if required.

The View wishes to thank all its loyal customers for their support in these difficult times and has enjoyed welcoming customers back.

Please visit The View’s website for its opening hours.

Seaford Head Golf Course

While there are no Covid-related rules on play at Seaford Head Golf Course, certain measures are in place to ensure consideration is given to the health and safety of both the golfers themselves and the Pro Shop staff:

  • Pro-Shop will be open however it is asked that MASKS ARE WORN inside
  • Bookings must be made in advance
  • All facilities are open
  • Group bookings and visitors welcome

Please check the Seaford Head Golf Course website for updates on restrictions.

Town Council Facilities and Concessions

Town Council facilities and concessions are all operating normally. Certain aspects of good practice will remain encouraged (an element of social distancing, regular hand washing, masks in busier indoor areas etc) and these will be advised accordingly.

Town Council Events and Events on Town Council Land

The use of Town Council land for events is permitted, only once a COVID-specific risk assessment has been considered and approved with the open spaces application. The Town Council is committed to working with event organisers to encourage community events within the town, recognising the benefit these bring to the town, its residents and visitors.

Seaford Christmas Magic 2021 will be taking place on Saturday 4th December. Town Council officers work with the event committee to ensure plans can be adapted, as best possible, should COVID-19 restrictions be reintroduced before the event takes place.

Town Council Meetings

Town Council meetings returned to being held physically from May 2021 in line with legislation. The agenda for each meeting sets out any COVID-safety measures in place for the meeting, including continued encouragement of masks being worn where people are able to.

The details of any meetings are shared on the Town Council’s website and also issued by email to registered recipients (sign up for these by emailing admin@seafordtowncouncil.gov.uk).

Town Council Projects

In 2020 the decision was taken to cease non-urgent projects until further notice, directly as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Project work was able to restart in early 2021 and the Town Council has been taking forward key work to meet its identified priorities.

The Town Council is currently carrying out its budget setting process for the 2022 – 2023 financial year (starting in April 2022), which includes identifying key projects to undertake and drive forwards.

To stay up to date with the Town Council’s project work and activities, be sure to look at its Facebook page, website or sign up to email updates (as above).

Town Council Offices

The Town Council Offices were closed to members of the public in March 2020 and heeding the Government’s advice in July 2021 of a gradual return to work, officers are continuing to adopt a hybrid approach to work with a blend of home and office working.

Officers continue to carry out their normal duties and the telephones are switched to the voicemail system, which is monitored throughout the day, with officers equipped to return calls where necessary.

Anyone visiting the shared building at 37 Church Street is encouraged to wear face coverings whilst in the shared reception areas.

Community Engagement

The Town Council will continue to communicate with the community via social media, the Town Council website, email and by telephone where necessary. In general, the Town Council will be following Government guidelines on limiting social contact and in trying to prevent any further spread of the virus. All measures above are therefore subject to change as deemed necessary and this guidance will be updated as necessary.

The Town Council will do all we can to share information necessary or helpful to the community regarding COVID-19.

All at Seaford Town Council thank you for your patience and support during this time.
