Seaford Town Council hosted this year's Christmas Magic on Saturday 7th December in the streets of Seaford Town, where residents and visitors enjoyed festive music, Christmas market stalls, lantern making workshops & parade, Santa’s grotto and secret stones treasure trail.
A variety of live entertainment captivated the crowds in Broad Street at the main stage with fabulous local bands, choirs and groups performing throughout the day. Tansley’s street performance stage hosted a mixture of singers, along with Stix Drummers who were drumming around the town.
Santa, Mrs Claus, and his merry elves were kept very busy throughout the day in Santa’s Grotto, run by Seaford Musical Theatre, based in the Barn Theatre. Children were thrilled to be able to meet Father Christmas and have their photo taken too.
New to Christmas Magic this year was the Secret Stones treasure trail, where 14 independent shops have taken part in displaying a painted secret stones in their window display, designed by year two pupils at Seaford Primary School, for children to find and enter a prize draw, with goodies donated from participating shops.
Seaford Town Council and the Chamber of Commerce hosted a window display competition for all shops in Seaford Town. This year the competition was judged by the Chamber of Commerce President, Claire Davis and The Mayor of Seaford, Cllr Nazish Adil. First prize was won by ‘Be Creative’ on Sutton Park Road, 2 runners up were Peter Trevor Jewellers and Wynne’s of Seaford.
Children were delighted to be able to make beautiful, colourful lanterns in St Leonard’s Church Hall with SCIP (Seaford Contemporary Illustrators & Printers) ahead of the magical Lantern Parade, where they could parade their lanterns through town and join in the count down with the Mayor of Seaford, Seaford Rotary and the winner of the Mayors Christmas Card competition, Florence Vaxs to switch on the sparkling Christmas lights.
Seaford Town Council has secured free car parking through Lewes District Council for all shoppers on Saturday 14th & 21st December. These include Saxon Lane, Sutton Road and West Street car parks. All other parking restrictions remain unchanged.
Thank you to all those who made the effort to make Christmas Magic so festive.
