Seaford Town Council is pleased to announce that works on the much-anticipated new Tennis Courts within The Salts Recreation Ground are now underway.

The works have been part funded by Lewes District Council, Sport England and the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), which is the governing body of tennis in Great Britain.

The three new courts will benefit from automated court floodlighting and gate access, which will work in conjunction with ClubSpark, an award-winning online sport management system ensuring an easy-to-use process for booking the courts.

Seaford Town Council is working with the LTA to ensure that the community courts are affordable for families and inclusive for all. An important aspect of the partnership is to have an effective programme of activity to encourage local residents to play more tennis, engage new players and help people learn how to play the game.

Quote from the Mayor, Cllr Rodney Reed “I am delighted that The Salts Recreation Ground is soon going to have another new facility, an ace served for the town!  Upgrading these tennis courts is in response to requests from our residents and is intended to make inclusive tennis affordable and more available in Seaford. I look forward to attending the opening which is scheduled to take place before my term as Mayor ends in May. Well done and my thanks to the funders and to everyone involved in getting this project off of the drawing board and on to The Salts”.

The works will take approximately 14 weeks, therefore the courts should be open for play at the beginning of April 2022. Please note that while the works are ongoing there may be some disruption to pathways within The Salts, the Town Council thank you for your patience whilst these are in place.
