The Over the Rainbow Walk is a sponsored event which will help participating groups and charities raise much needed funds, raise their community profiles whilst the participants have some much-needed fun.

The Over the Rainbow Walk will take place on Sunday 20th June 2021 along Seaford Seafront between Splash Point and the Sailing Club, about 5kms/3miles there and back, a nice Sunday afternoon stroll!  Each group of walkers will start at defined times at 5-minute intervals during the afternoon.

Teams of would-be walkers will need to secure their group entries by registering before the registration deadline of 17th May.  The number of teams who can take part will be strictly limited.  Sponsorship for your charity may begin as soon as you register.  To maximise fundraising opportunities, early registration to take part in the Over the Rainbow Walk is recommended.

The entry fees of £10 per adult (£25 for a family of six or fewer) will go to the Mayor’s Charities Initiative.

We are aiming for an inclusive community event, a family day outing with a Rainbow of colourful Fancy Dress costumes inspired by films, famous people, music or your own imagination; or perhaps something which represents your local clubs and groups and raises your group’s profile.  It is a family show, but individuals, pairs and groups less than 6 can also enter.

Together let us make the event a real Red-Letter Day for Seaford.

Walkers can choose their own charity or group to benefit from the sponsorship they raise from their families, friends, and neighbours.  So, your efforts will also support good causes. What could be better!

Free parking will be available for registered walkers in the Martello Fields in plenty of time before the event to them enable check in at the information point and receive an entry number.

And if it rains cats and dogs, we will merely announce a revised date for the walk to take place soon afterwards.

So put Sunday 20th June 2021 in your diary because the Over the Rainbow Walk will be a major Rotary event to help us forget the dark times of lockdown and depression and revive that feel-good factor that we all still must remember.
