The Crowds Gather for an Ace Day at the Formal Opening of the Stunning Seaford Head Golf Course Clubhouse!

Submitted on 30 April 2015 by Council Officers

Seaford Head Golf Clubhouse had its official opening on Saturday 18th April, which was a huge success drawing in crowds of over 250 people including local dignitaries, golfers and local residents, with many commenting on how impressed they were with the new Clubhouse.

Fresh from commentating in one of the most iconic Golfing competitions in the world, the US Golf Masters, the ‘Voice of Golf’ Peter Alliss was present to formally declare the clubhouse open and show his support for the venue and Seaford’s iconic cliff top golf course.

Seaford Town Council and Seaford Head Golf Club organised competitions on the day to raise money for Peter Alliss’ charities, who had generously waived any attendance fee in return for donations to his charities. Thanks to the generosity of those present in excess of £1,050 was raised to be split between Blind Golfers Association, DebRA (fighting the terrible skin disease of the young, epidermolysis bullosa), Battle of Britain Historical Society (their Trophy competition is run nationally at supporting clubs), the Prostate Project and the Wildlife Ark Trust (saving the red squirrel).

Brooklyn Hyundai organised a ‘crack the safe’ competition for a chance to win a brand new Santa Fe worth approximately £35,000.  Unfortunately no-one was able to guess the winning code!

Peter Alliss quoted he was delighted when his friend Richard Andrews, Seaford Head Golf Club’s secretary, had invited himself and his wife Jackie to attend the opening. Mr Alliss went on to say what a fantastic clubhouse it was for both the golfers and non-golfers to enjoy.

Seaford Town Council and Seaford Head Golf Club would like to thank all the members of public, dignitaries, the Town Crier Peter White and attendees of the event for helping support the official opening of the town’s new facility. Thanks are also extended to Matt Bode Photography for providing the professional photographs of the event.

The clubhouse is open seven days a week with a fully functional bar and kitchen providing a fantastic selection of options throughout the day, and is also available for function bookings.
