Seaford Town Council will introduce a one‑year trial of a paid parking system at the South Hill Barn car park, scheduled to begin in late April 2026. The initiative is designed to improve parking management in anticipation of the busy summer season, reducing congestion and enhancing the overall experience for both residents and visitors.
As Seaford residents already contribute through council tax towards the upkeep of the Seaford Head Estate and South Hill Barn—both owned and maintained by the Town Council—the trial has been designed to ensure that local residents continue to benefit from full access to the site.
Free Parking Permits for BN25 Residents
All residents living within the BN25 postcode area will be eligible for a free parking permit, enabling them to park at South Hill Barn at no cost throughout the duration of the trial.
Permits are now available, and residents can obtain theirs by visiting the Seaford Tourist Information Centre, located at 37 Church Street, Seaford. The centre is open Monday to Friday, 9am–4pm.
To collect a permit, residents will need to provide proof of address:
- Either: a valid driving licence
- Or: a utility bill (e.g. electricity bill or council tax bill) alongside a passport or bus pass
Permits will be registered to a specific car, so please ensure you know the car registration number that you wish to have added to the permit. There is a maximum of three (3) permits available per household.
Permits will be issued immediately and can be displayed in the vehicle’s windscreen.
Trial Period and Review
The parking trial is planned to run for the full financial year, from late April 2026 to March 2027. Towards the end of this period, the Town Council will carry out a full review to assess the effectiveness of the scheme. Findings will then be reported to Full Council to inform a decision on future arrangements.
