Seaford Town Council secure a further 10-year agreement with East Blatchington Pond Conservation Society for the community voluntary group to continue its wonderful work in taking care of the pond.

SEAFORD, 1st August 2023 – One of Seaford’s best kept secrets is Seaford Town Council-owned Blatchington Pond.  It is situated at the foot of Blatchington Hill and is a haven for wildlife. The Pond has been well cared for by local voluntary group ‘East Blatchington Pond Conservation Society’, which has just signed an agreement with the Town Council for a further 10 years.

Upon signing the new agreement and receiving an award for the Society’s work, Jenny Campbell, spokesperson and Chairperson of the Committee said: “The Committee of East Blatchington Pond Conservation Society is delighted and honoured to accept the very first Jean Cash Environment Award. Our team of volunteers work hard to create a balance between the needs of wildlife at the Pond, and maintaining a green space that local people can use and enjoy safely. We thank the Mayor of Seaford for choosing to recognise the Pond's importance locally and the volunteers' dedication.”

The Society has done a wonderful job in keeping the Pond well maintained. The pictures below show the Pond in its true glory, with well-pampered resident ducklings!  The Society is run by volunteers who meet at the Pond every Saturday from 10am to 12pm. If you are interested in joining them, please see their website below for more information, or visit them at Blatchington Pond on a Saturday morning.
