Seaford Town Council congratulates Mayor of Seaford’s Charity Garden Trail organiser, Geoff Stonebanks on being named as one of the 500 Coronation Champions 2023

SEAFORD, 27th APRIL 2023 – Seaford Town Council is delighted to have been informed that volunteer organiser of the Mayor of Seaford’s Charity Garden Trail events (held up to 2019) has been named as one of the 500 Coronation Champions 2023.

The Coronation Champions Awards have been launched as an official Coronation project by the Royal Voluntary Service, in honour of Their Majesties’ service to the country.

Thousands of people aged from 14 to 103 from all over the UK and supporting a range of causes were nominated and from these nominations, 500 volunteers have been hand-picked by a judging panel presided over by the Queen Consort, and crowned Coronation Champions.

All 500 Coronation Champions will receive a specially designed, official Coronation Champions pin and a signed certificate from His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort and are invited to attend one of the official Coronation celebrations, such as the Windsor Castle Coronation Concert or a Coronation Garden Party.

Geoff Stonebanks has been awarded for his years of volunteering for the National Garden Scheme, Macmillan Cancer Support and work in Seaford up to 2019 with the Mayor of Seaford’s Charity Garden Trail. Geoff’s hard work raised over £16,000 for the Mayor of Seaford’s charities between 2011 and 2019.

In 2018, the Town Council awarded Geoff with the prestigious Don Mabey Award – an award for an individual who have gone above and beyond with their services to the town of Seaford and its residents.

The Mayor of Seaford has said “Seaford Town Council would like to congratulate Geoff Stonebanks on being named one of the 500 Coronation Champions of 2023. Geoff has worked diligently in the Seaford community raising much needed funds for Macmillan, and a variety of local charities.”
