Following last night’s storm, a significant amount of the shingle that forms Seaford’s sea defences has been washed onto the promenade along the full length of the beach.
Seaford Town Council is in close liaison with the Environment Agency as they assess the situation and plan the necessary works to restore the shingle sea defences.
Further updates will be shared as and when they become available to Seaford Town Council.
Storm gates will remain closed during this time.
UPDATE 16.01.26: The Environment Agency have confirmed that they are looking to clear the bulk of the shingle from the promenade in week commencing 26 January, however, there are lots of variables at the moment with the containers also leaving rubbish on the beach and the shingle needing to return to the beach, all being well this is the plan.
The Environment Agency will give us a further update the closer we get to these dates, and any changes will be shared.
