Seaford Town Council have recently been given a brand-new Union Jack flag for the town’s war memorial. This was very kindly donated by Seaford Town Councillor, Alan Latham and his wife Kris. Dave Argent, a past Seaford Town Councillor and Mayor, who has done lots of work for the Council and is a volunteer honorary flag master raised the new flag. Alongside the flag, a commemorative bench was also recently installed at the War Memorial to coincide with Veterans and Armed Forces Day. This was officially unveiled by the Seaford Mayor Cllr Nazish Adil and many other local dignitaries.

Dave Argent said:

“ I have had the honour of being the official flag raiser for Seaford Town Council for many years and Cllr Alan Latham asked if I would raise the new flag at the war memorial in Seaford for him, so I arranged to meet him and his wife there where I replaced the small flag with Alan’s larger one. The new flag is made of a stronger material so will be able to cope with the windy weather Seaford often gets. After a minor adjustment to the rope in the flagpole, the new flag was raised on Wednesday morning. The breeze was just right to stretch the flag out to its full size. With the new bench underneath, we thought it looks great. I would like to thank Alan and his wife Krissy again for giving another new flag to be raised at the war memorial.”

With the Centenary year coming to an end, it is wonderful to see this area now looking refreshed, giving Seaford Town a delightful place to remember our heroes.
